Sherman Parks and Recreation: Exciting New Playgrounds Coming to Fairview Park and Pecan Grove Park East

Sherman’s Parks and Recreation Department is making strides to enhance the city’s outdoor spaces with two major playground projects currently underway. Designed to improve accessibility, inclusivity, and enjoyment for residents of all ages, these updates demonstrate the city’s commitment to providing top-tier recreational amenities.

Fairview Park’s $1.8 Million Renovation

Fairview Park is in the midst of a major $1.8 million transformation. Construction has already begun and is progressing on schedule, promising an updated, modernized space for the community.

The upgrades will include state-of-the-art playground equipment, expanded recreational areas, and improved accessibility features. These enhancements are designed to make Fairview Park a more inviting destination for families, children, and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Once completed, the park will offer new opportunities for residents to connect, play, and relax in a safe, inclusive environment.

A First-of-Its-Kind Playground at Pecan Grove Park East

Pecan Grove Park East will soon feature an inclusive playground, the first of its kind in the region. This innovative project aims to provide a safe and welcoming space for children of all abilities to play together.

The playground will be specifically designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring that children with disabilities or special needs can fully participate. Features will include wheelchair-accessible equipment, sensory play areas, and an inclusive layout that fosters interaction between kids of all abilities.

The project is part of the city’s 2017 Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan and is funded in part by the Sherman Lions Club. Sherman ISD Superintendent Dr. Tyson Bennett highlighted the park's importance, noting its role in “increasing quality of life for all residents through amenities that are welcoming to everyone.”

A Commitment to Community and Quality of Life

Both projects reflect Sherman’s dedication to enhancing public spaces and investing in its residents’ well-being. Fairview Park’s upgrades and the groundbreaking inclusive playground at Pecan Grove Park East will serve as sources of pride for the community, offering spaces where families and friends can come together to create lasting memories.

What’s Next?

The renovations at Fairview Park are on track to be completed on time, and the inclusive playground at Pecan Grove Park East is set to be a transformative addition to Sherman’s recreational offerings. As these projects take shape, Sherman residents can look forward to enjoying improved parks that meet the needs of the growing community.

Stay tuned for updates as these exciting projects near completion. Sherman’s commitment to parks and recreation is shaping a brighter, more inclusive future for all!
